DESCRIPTION: EPW - Unsigned English, minute repeater, 50mm, heavy 18K gold OF original case bearing London hallmarks for 1883, casemaker's marking in cameo is rubbed but may be "P W" for Phillip Woodman & Sons, rear with initials below heraldic imagery and banner reading "Murus Aeneus Conscientia Sana" (Latin for "a sound conscious is a wall of brass"), gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, SW-pin-set, fully capped lever escapement, 19J, diamond endstone, gilt mvt, no visible s#. Gross weight of assembled watch 78.8 dwt (122.7 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good repeat function and tone aside from minute hand being currently set about one minute out of index with strike, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some fine to micro-fine scratches, some clouding of gilt tone; dial with hls between center and upper-right edge, faint hl between center and 11:30, small hl above seconds-register; fine hands, minute with oxide to tip; case shows light wear, profuse micro-fine scratches, small ding at lower-right edge of rear, few scattered very small nicks, no dents, cuvette with mild shallow ding near center, good engraving detail, some bits of rear planchet seam exposed by wear at rear shoulder; tight bow, crown shows light wear; glass crystal with small scratch toward upper-left.
